Are You Being Heard: Speaking That Gets You What You Want

In a study some years ago researchers found that on average the fear of public speaking was second only to the fear of death. You can’t do anything about death, but you can do something about speaking. By understanding what it takes to deliver a powerful presentation, whether to a hundred people or to one (who makes you incredibly nervous), you can start becoming comfortable with speaking.

In this presentation you will learn how to prepare presentations including understanding you audience (be it board members, managers, donors or just interested people), how to hone your thinking and prepare the information; how to manage content including what to include and how to organize it; how to design powerful PowerPoint presentations; how speak or present convincingly; and how to solicit donations.

Ariane David specializes in the Strategy of Human Dynamics in organizations including the assessment of the “hidden life” of organizations. She is the co-founder and managing partner of The Veritas Group, a human and organizational development consulting firm. Ariane is a Senior Lecturer at California State University, Northridge, Masters in Public Policy program, and executive director of the National University Center for Organizational Excellence. She has served as a special adviser to numerous boards of directors of non-profit and for profit organizations as well as project based groups including the SEC Commission on Public Trust and Private Enterprise.

Ariane’s specialties include critical thinking, speaking, and writing, organizational change, systems thinking, organizational learning, culture development, and executive/management development.
